Queen Margaret University Sport & Fitness Centre has a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities that are open to use for students, staff and the general public. From our indoor Fitness Suite and Weights Room to our outdoor gym and all-weather pitch, you will find everything you need to get fit with 西瓜视频 Sport & Fitness.
Fitness Suite
The Fitness Suite contains state of the art cardiovascular equipment supplied by Life Fitness including exercise bikes, treadmills, X-Trainers and rowing machines.
The Fitness Suite also contains a range of fixed weights machines designed to target all the major muscle groups. The machines are designed to be easy to use for individuals of all fitness levels placing you in the ideal exercise position to optimise results.
On your first visit to the suite you will receive an induction for the use of the equipment and can be provided with a training programme developed to suit your lifestyle. Training programmes are on going and can be reviewed at any time.

Weights Room
Our Weights Room is situated next to the Fitness Suite and contains the following equipment:
- Dumbbells 2.5kg - 35kg
- Olympic bar x 3 & plates 1.25kg - 25kg
- Bumper Plates (5kg and 10kg) Curl Bar (10kg)
- Half racks x 2
- Bench x 2
- Micro Plates
All users of the Weights Room must have an induction in its use prior to access being granted.
To use the Weights Room, you must book your session in advance. You can do this by using our system or by contacting the Sport & Fitness Team.

Induction & Fitness Programmes
Our friendly Sport & Fitness Team are here to help you throughout your fitness journey. Whether you are completely new to the gym or an experienced gym user, they will work with you to help you identify and achieve your fitness goals. Services we can offer are:
Induction
A member of the Sport & Fitness Team will show you around the facilities and provide you with instructions on how to use the fitness equipment safely and effectively. Inductions take approx. 15 - 30 minutes depending on your needs and previous experience.
Fitness Programme
Having a programme can help to build your confidence, add structure to your workout, increase exercise knowledge and most important of all, help you achieve the results you want.
Fitness programmes are perfect for you if you:
- would like to know how to get the most out of your time in the gym
- have a specific aim or goal
- would like a bit more variety in your workouts
- would like to try more advanced exercises
Programmes are split into two appointments. The first appointment is a consultation where you will have a chat with a member of the Sport & Fitness Team to enable them to gather the information that they need to create your personal programme. They will then arrange your second appointment where they will run through the programme that they have created for you.
Cost:
Members: Induction and fitness programmes are included within your sports centre membership.
Non Members: Induction is included within your entry fee. Programmes are 拢21.00.

Sports Hall
The sports hall is available for one off or block bookings for the following activities:

Outdoor All-Weather Pitch
The floodlit, all weather pitch is home to 1 seven-a-side or 2 five-a-side football pitches. The pitch is available for one off or block bookings.

Fitness Studio
The Fitness Studio is home to our fitness classes. Please see class timetable for details of current classes and how to book. This multi purpose area that can be used for exercise or dance with its sprung floor and wall mirrors is available for hire to clubs and groups.

Outdoor Gym
Our outdoor gym facility can be found at the far end of the academic building near the pond. This facility is open all year round and it offers a range of bodyweight based resistance equipment which includes:
- Pull up, Press up and Dip area.
- Chest Press
- Row Machine
- Pulldown
- Cross-trainer
The outdoor gym is free for everyone to use whenever they want.
When using the outdoor gym, please remember to sanitize your hands before and after using the equipment.
